Lesson 2 - Category Manager in Joomla

Category in Joomla

In joomla categories behaves like a folder. As we create a folder and save our files and another folder in it. Similarly we create category in joomla which contains web page(article) and sub categories too.

To work with category we have to work with the category manager which provides facility to add, edit and delete the category.

Steps to create the category in joomla

     

      1.    Open the administrator and login it.

     2.       Click on the Category Manager. We can also select category manager from the menu Content

    3.       Here you will get window from where you can perform action on category. In the left side its showing all category which already created.

    4.       To add new category click on the new button this is showing on the top.

    5.       After that you will get window where you can add category. Put the category name and fill the necessary data click on the save button from the top. And then close it by clicking the close button on top. In this example I created category books.

   6.       After that you will get your category in the listing.

Edit and Delete the Category

To edit any category select category and click on the edit button. Or directly click on the category it will open the edit window

After making the changes then save category and close it.

To delete the category simply select the category and click on trash
